In 1787 Mount Vernon appeared much as it does today; many projects and improvements that George Washington had directed to be started during the American Revolution were now completed, and prosperity was around the corner. Unfortunately, Washington does not see this in the Spring and Summer, as his duties pull him away to Philadelphia to oversee the Constitutional Convention.
