The Soldiers Return

24"x36" Original Oil on Canvas - Price on Request

16"x24 Giclee on Canvas Ltd. Ed. (50), signed/numbered $325.

During the American Revolution, a soldier's family may have followed him on campaign for years. These campfollowers went to the field for many reasons, sometimes their homes were occupied or destroyed, often the women and children just could not survive on their own. None followed any romantic notions; life was hard for all concerned. One of the few advantages of following the army was the occasional time spent with a loved one...father, son or brother. But the risk of this closeness is seen in a girl's reluctance to look up- to see if her father has returned or not.
