Towards dusk, the American Army
fell back from the field of battle. The battered
right wing of Stirling and Stephens' Divisions
were on a line of retreat to Chester, hotly pursued
by the 46th and 64th Regiments. This turned out
to be an evening ambush...the Carolina Brigade,
1st and 2nd Virgina and various other unit laids
in wait for the pursuers. In this brief engagement,
the 64th took the brunt of the fire, taking 10%
casualties, thus halting the British advance.
